PUTRAJAYA, Nov 28 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) confirmed having arrested businessman Albert Tei at his home in Puchong, Selangor, this morning.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the arrest was carried out in accordance with standard procedures.

“MACC, however, denies claims that its officers pointed a firearm at Tei during the arrest,” he said in a statement.

Azam added that a police report has been lodged to enable authorities to investigate the allegation, which he described as defamatory.

The report, he said, is also intended to prevent the spread of false information that could disrupt the commission’s investigation.

Earlier, it was reported that Tei was arrested by the MACC officers after the anti-graft agency raided his home.
