BANGKOK, Dec 4 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian polo team continued their fine form in the SEA Games Thailand 2025 by checking into the equestrian polo semi-finals at the VS Sports Club & Siam Polo Park in Samut Prakan today.
Malaysia, led by the Tengku Arif Bendahara of Pahang, Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri'ayatuddin Shah, edged Brunei 6-5.
National polo team manager Datuk Shaiful Annuar Ahmad Shaffie said both teams played well, with Brunei showing strong determination after their 7.5-7 loss to hosts Thailand yesterday.
“Our players gave their best performance. The match was tied at at 5-5 before we managed to snatch the winning goal three minutes before the final whistle,” he told Bernama when contacted.
Shaiful Annuar said the players will have three days’ rest before their semi-final match on Monday.
He said Malaysia's semi-final opponents will be determined after tomorrow’s match between the Philippines and Thailand.
He added that regardless of who they face in the semi-finals, Malaysia will give their best to bag the gold medal.
In an earlier match, the Philippines defeated Indonesia 5.5-3 under the handicap scoring system.
The SEA Games Thailand 2025, which will be officially opened on Dec 9, will be held in two provinces - Bangkok and Chonburi - and will end on Dec 20.
