KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11 (Bernama) -- A man was found dead in a fire at a condominium unit on the 26th floor of the building in Segambut here last night.
The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre, in a statement, said the victim was found with burns all over his body on the balcony of the unit.
"The victim was confirmed dead by a medical team at the scene,” it added.
It said the centre received an emergency call at 8.46 pm and that personnel from the Sri Hartamas, Menjalara, Sentul and Taman Tun Dr Ismail fire and rescue stations were dispatched to the location.
"Fire-fighting operations were hampered due to the building's fire prevention system not functioning properly, forcing the team to use two portable water pumps and a fire engine pump to channel water to the affected unit,” it added.
The fire was extinguished at 2.03 am, and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
