SHAH ALAM, Dec 12 (Bernama) -- The bond between their children was the key factor that strengthened Erra Fazira and Ezwan Zain’s decision to marry.
The 51-year-old popular actress, singer and host, whose real name is Fazira Wan Chek, said the children’s acceptance was a top priority before taking the relationship to a more serious stage.
Erra Fazira and businessman Ezwan’s akad nikah (marriage solemnisation) ceremony took place at Rinjani Majestic, Kampung Melayu Subang here, this morning.

She said the warm relationship between their children — Engku Aleesya Engku Emran and Dania Sofia Ezwan, both 16 — further strengthened their confidence to move into a new chapter of life together.
“I think once you take that step of introducing your child to your partner, that already shows things are serious and at a different level, no longer just friends. So when the introduction happens, the first thing I think about is my daughter’s reaction… whether she feels comfortable.
“Thankfully, during the first meeting with my partner and his child, the reaction was positive. As a mother, we know our children,,, when something doesn’t sit right, we can tell. My husband is also very good at winning hearts, and that made the children feel at ease,” she told Bernama.

Ezwan, 44, said he too did not want to rush into any decision without ensuring both families were truly compatible.
“For me, family comes first… once the children are comfortable with each other, then only we think about the next step. Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly today (at the akad nikah ceremony),” he said.
Among the highlights of the event was a special surprise from Ezwan — a specially designed golden floral arrangement weighing 102 grammes, as a symbol of appreciation for his wife.

According to Ezwan, crafting the golden flowers required meticulous work as he wanted to give something truly unique and meaningful.
“There were many surprises I prepared for Erra today, including the golden flowers. Erra only knew the weight of the gold, but she had no idea what the final arrangement would look like.
The couple’s wedding ceremony, only for family members, will be held tomorrow, while a separate reception for friends will be held on Dec 27.

This marriage marks Erra’s third, after nearly 11 years of living on her own as a single mother.
Her earlier marriage to actor and KRU vocalist Datuk Yusry Abdul Halim ended in 2006. She later married businessman Engku Emran Engku Zainal Abidin, with whom she has a daughter (Engku Aleesya). They divorced in 2014.
