BANGKOK, Dec 12 (Bernama) -- Experienced national snooker player Thor Chuan Leong presented the first gold medal for the snooker camp at the 2025 SEA Games after topping the men's single 6-Red event today.

In the action held at Thunder Dome Muang Thong Thani, the 37-year-old player brilliantly won five frames to defeat the host participant, Danjirakul Poramin who only won two frames.

The last time he won the 6-Red event was in the 2013 edition in Naypyidaw.

Thor said the victory was not achieved easily because he faced pressure and had to overcome mental challenges before ensuring that the gold was his.

"I am very happy because before that there was indeed pressure as this result will be a catalyst for the SEA Games in Malaysia later.

"So I think, at least I myself need to get one gold. So I put pressure on myself. That's why I'm very happy and everyone came to see me," he told reporters after the match.

He was also proud to continue the excellent streak of teammates Lim Kok Leong and Moh Keen Hoo who each won gold in the same event at the 2021 edition in Hanoi and 2023 in Cambodia.

This victory also adds to Thor's personal collection of six SEA Games gold medals so far.
