WASHINGTON, Dec 16 (Bernama-dpa) -- Following talks with Ukraine and European leaders, US President Donald Trump sees progress in negotiations on a possible way to end Russia's war against its neighbour, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.
"I think we're closer now than we have been ever, and we'll see what we can do," Trump said in Washington on Monday.
He said he had held talks with European heads of state and government, including Germany, as well as with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"Things are seemingly going well, but we've been saying that for a long time, and it's a difficult one," he said.
Trump pointed out that Washington had already spoken with Russia several times about resolving the conflict.
In Berlin, Ukrainian and US negotiators have been discussing a 20-point peace plan for the country, which was attacked by Russia more than three and a half years ago. The US delegation includes special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner. Russia was not involved in the talks.
