Ahmad Martadha Appointed UUM’s 11th Vice-Chancellor

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 17 (Bernama) -- Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) Prof Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed has been appointed as the 11th Vice-Chancellor of UUM, effective yesterday.

The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) in a statement announced that Ahmad Martadha, 57, is a graduate of a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, United States.

He then continued his studies to obtain a Master's Degree in Public Administration at Indiana State University, USA, before obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy degree in the same field from Southern Illinois University.

According to MOHE, Ahmad Martadha has extensive experience in university leadership and governance, and has previously held several strategic positions at UUM, including serving as Dean of Student Development from 2005 to 2008.

He also served as Dean (Student Development and Entrepreneurship) and Director of Strategic Planning and Quality at the College of Law, Government and International Studies, UUM, between 2005 and 2013.

“His expertise in public administration, coupled with experience leading institutions at various levels, will enable him to steer UUM and play a strategic role as a key driver in strengthening the culture of knowledge transfer and realising the university’s vision of becoming a leading management institution that is competitive at both national and international levels,” the statement said.

The ministry also expressed its highest appreciation to Datuk Prof Dr Mohd Fo'ad Sakdan for his service in leading UUM previously.
