Wan Rohaimi Urges Improvement Despite Penang FC Win

20/12/2025 11:08 AM

GEORGE TOWN, Dec 20 (Bernama) -- Penang FC’s emphatic 3-0 victory over PDRM FC yesterday marked the end of their winless run, but the team must continue working hard to secure positive results moving forward, head coach Wan Rohaimi Wan Ismail said.

Despite the convincing scoreline in the Super League match at the City Stadium here, he was not fully satisfied with the overall performance of his players.

Wan Rohaimi said his men created numerous chances but failed to capitalise on them, highlighting finishing as a major weakness that still needs urgent improvement.

He warned that such wastefulness could prove costly when facing stronger and more experienced teams than PDRM FC in future matches.

Nevertheless, he hopes the victory will serve as a much-needed confidence boost for the squad after enduring a difficult period marked by consecutive defeats.

Looking ahead to their away clash against Brunei’s DPMM FC, Wan Rohaimi acknowledged the challenge of limited preparation time but expressed hope that his players would be well-rested for the crucial encounter.

Meanwhile, defensive frailties and repeated individual errors were identified as the main factors behind Immigration FC’s defeat to Terengganu FC in another Super League match at Batu Kawan Stadium yesterday.

Immigration FC head coach Yusri Che Lah admitted his disappointment as the same mistakes he had cautioned against continued to resurface, eventually leading to three goals conceded.

He said poor defending and inaccurate passing prior to the opening goal put the team under pressure, despite the players showing strong commitment throughout the match.

Yusri also revealed that injury problems have left the squad short-handed and emphasised the need to sign new players ahead of the second half of the season.

On the other hand, Terengganu FC head coach Badrul Afzan Razali praised his defensive unit for delivering a solid performance despite the absence of several key players.

He said the narrow 3-2 win reflected the depth of his squad but insisted there remains room for improvement to ensure consistency in upcoming fixtures.
