UNIC's Two-decade Journey In Debut Solo Concert

PETALING JAYA, Dec 22 (Bernama) — After 23 years of colouring the local nasyid music scene, UNIC marked a major milestone in their artistic journey by successfully staging their first full-scale solo concert, This Is UNIC: Live In Concert, at Idea Live Arena here last Saturday.

Comprising the trio Fakhrul Radhi, Bazli Hazwan and Dr Fitri Haris, the concert showcased a distinct musical approach, with the performance arranged in a narrative, calm and measured flow—reflecting UNIC’s identity that emphasises depth of message and contemplation.

The choice of Hanyut as the opening number stood out as one of the concert’s key highlights. Originally released in 2015, the song was presented in a fresher, more minimalist arrangement, serving as an effective introduction to the overall performance.

The concert then unfolded progressively through songs such as Balqis, Remaja, Sebuah Pertemuan and Jalinan, creating space for audience engagement before transitioning into a more reflective segment.

The performance entered a spiritually immersive phase with songs like Sifat Anak Soleh, Hakikat Bahagia and Jom Solat, accompanied by zikir chants and the congregational recitation of qunut nazilah, transforming the hall into a shared space of worship.

A monologue segment highlighting the bond between mother and child, followed by the song Ibu, brought the audience to an emotional peak before the atmosphere was rebalanced with light-hearted skits and audience-friendly songs such as Kawan & Teman, Seiring Sehaluan and Hijrah.

As the concert drew toward its conclusion, UNIC sustained the momentum with love- and humanity-themed songs including Insan Bernama Kekasih, Hanya Tuhan Yang Tahu and Mahligai Kekasih, before stepping off the stage to sing Ya Allah Lindungi Kami together with the audience.

For the finale, Ainul Mardhiah was chosen to close the night, completing a concert that not only revisited UNIC’s past journey but also opened a new chapter in their efforts to elevate the stature of nasyid music on the grand stage.
