KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 22 (Bernama) -- If the presence of one renowned band is enough to spark excitement, imagine the phenomenon created when two big names share the same stage.

That phenomenon unfolded last night at the ‘NIDJI X BUNKFACE’ concert held at Zepp Kuala Lumpur, where for nearly three hours, thousands of fans sang along non-stop to every lyric with their favourite artists.

At exactly 8.36 pm, the venue lights dimmed, met by thunderous cheers from fans—many dressed in denim—before Bunkface kicked off the show with Malam Ini Kita Punya, igniting the concert atmosphere from the outset with energetic jumping and dancing from the crowd.

The excitement continued to build with a string of popular songs such as Panik, Prom Queen and Silly Lily, proving that the band—comprising Sam, Paan, Youk and Biak—remains relevant despite having coloured the local music industry for two decades.

“We’ve been around for 20 years, and I never imagined people would still be listening to our songs,” said lead vocalist Sam, visibly moved by the overwhelming response from fans that night.

Performing 13 songs including Situasi and Revolusi, Bunkface successfully drove the crowd’s energy before wrapping up their set at around 9.50 pm. However, fans remained fully ‘charged’ eagerly awaiting the appearance of Indonesian band Nidji on the main stage.

The anticipation of fans—smartphones in hand, ready to record every moment—was finally rewarded when Nidji took to the stage with broad smiles and waves, reciprocating the crowd’s enthusiasm.

The band, consisting of Yusuf Ubay (vocalist), Andro Regantoro (bass), Randy Danistha (keyboardist), Ramadhista Akbar and Andi Ariel Harsya (guitars), and Adri Prakarsa (drums), opened their performance with their hit song Laskar Pelangi.

Ubay admitted he felt rather nervous returning to the stage that night, but was deeply touched by the warm reception from fans.

“Honestly, I’m very nervous tonight. We rarely perform this set, but we prepared it especially for the end of 2025. There are so many of you tonight—are you guys happy?” he said.

Nidji entertained the audience with a mix of old favourites and newer songs, including Manusia Sempurna, Kisah Kasihku, Wadoow, Zayang-Zayang, Bolehlah Ku Berharap, Teman Sejati, Bila Aku Jatuh Cinta, Rahasia Hati, Shadows and Biarlah.

As Nidji appeared to be closing their set with Biarlah, fans’ disappointment turned into surprise when the band returned to the stage to perform the iconic Sumpah dan Cinta Matiku, triggering deafening cheers and a thunderous singalong, before ending the concert with Hapus Aku.
