Missed Chances Cost TFC Home Defeat To Sabah

KUALA NERUS, Dec 24 (Bernama) -- Wasteful finishing proved costly as Terengganu FC (TFC) fell 1-3 to Sabah FC at home last night, said head coach Badrul Afzan Razali.

He said the Turtles should have taken all three points after dominating both halves, but blunt finishing and defensive lapses denied them any return.

“Our main issue tonight was finishing. We created chances but failed to score, and simple mistakes at the back made us vulnerable,” he said after the Super League match at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium.

Badrul Afzan added that the problem mirrored last week’s match against Imigresen FC, where TFC controlled the game but failed to convert chances into goals.

Meanwhile, Sabah FC acting head coach Alto Linus was delighted to snatch a full three points away from home, crediting his players’ fighting spirit despite conceding early.

“Our tempo was slow in the first half, allowing Terengganu to dominate. They attacked but did not apply high or reaction pressing, and we took advantage by raising our tempo in the second half,” he said.

He also praised goalkeeper Damien Lim for a string of crucial saves.

The win lifted Sabah FC two places to eighth, ending the first round with 13 points, while TFC stayed fifth on 18 points.
