NILAI, Dec 26 (Bernama) -- Agrobank has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Council (MAINS) to make Agrobank the official account for infaq collection in Negeri Sembilan, thus strengthening the management of Islamic social funds in a more systematic and transparent manner.
Agrobank group president/chief executive officer Datuk Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin said the strategic collaboration reflects Agrobank's continued commitment in supporting the socio-economic development of the ummah as well as strengthening the governance of Islamic welfare funds.
“The use of Agrobank’s account as the official account for infaq collection reflects the trust placed in Agrobank in managing public funds professionally, transparently and with integrity.
“Islamic social funds are not only limited to zakat and waqf, but also include other instruments such as infaq which play an important role in supporting community needs and public interests,” he said in a statement to Bernama.
The MoU signing ceremony was held in conjunction with the launch of the Negeri Sembilan Mosque Infaq Fund (Iman9 Fund) organised by MAINS, which was officiated by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun here last night.
The agreement was signed by Agrobank chief business officer Syed Hairul Anuar Syed Fadzil representing Agrobank while MAINS was represented by its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Aziz Sheikh Abdul Kadir, witnessed by Aminuddin.
Meanwhile, Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah said that through the establishment of Iman9 Fund, the funds collected will be used specifically for the development and empowerment of mosque institutions as centres for religious activities, education and community.
“This collaboration fully complies with Shariah principles in line with the maqasid al-Shariah which emphasises the preservation of religion and property and infaq is an act of worship encouraged in the Quran and Sunnah,” he said.
He said that through fund management based on trust and transparency, Agrobank ensures that every transaction is free from elements of usury, gharar (uncertainty) and maysir (gambling/speculation) thus guaranteeing the use of funds for halal and beneficial purposes.
The initiative, he said, not only makes it easier for Muslims to fulfill their social responsibilities through safe and Sharia-compliant banking channels but also strengthens the role of mosques as centres of worship, education and the well-being of the ummah.
Meanwhile, Aminuddin in his speech said that Dana Iman9 reflects MAINS’s continued commitment and determination in empowering mosque institutions as a development of the ummah in addition to long-term measures to strengthen infaq collections in a more transparent and sustainable manner.
“In line with the agenda of digitising public services and facilitating people’s affairs, MAINS has established a strategic collaboration with Agrobank as the main implementing partner of Dana Iman9 thus facilitating community participation and even increasing the level of transparency and efficiency of governance fund,” he said.
