PUTRAJAYA, Jan 9 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) will organise a two-day IKONDESA@Putrajaya Food Festival from tomorrow (Jan 10) in an effort to strengthen market access for rural products and promote Malaysian heritage flavours.
The festival will take place at Souq Putrajaya, Presint 1, from 10 am to 6 pm, and will provide a market access platform through the establishment of physical sales centres in the city, thus serving as a marketing and sales hub for rural products produced by entrepreneurs under the guidance of KKDW.
In a statement today, KKDW said the festival combines a hybrid sales concept featuring high-quality artisan and commercial rural products, including handicrafts, traditional textiles, food and beverage products as well as mini cafe elements.
Themed “Citarasa Warisan Malaysia”, the festival showcases a variety of traditional dishes such as nasi lemak, soto, satay, Nyonya curry mee, various traditional cakes and cendol.
“It not only brings back nostalgia, but reflects a cultural identity of the country's and the diversity of its food heritage," according to the statement.
KKDW said IKONDESA was one of the 42 game-changer initiatives of the KKDW for the year 2025, focusing on sustainable rural economic empowerment.
"The public is welcome to attend to enjoy traditional local dishes and support competitive and high-quality food products from local rural entrepreneurs," said the statement.
