KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 (Bernama) — CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM) has named its chief operating officer, Roshdi Ahmad, as its acting chief executive officer (CEO) with immediate effect, to ensure leadership continuity and the agency’s smooth operation.

The announcement was made on CSM’s official Facebook page this morning, following yesterday’s retirement of Datuk Dr Amirudin Abdul Wahab as CEO, after helming the agency for 13 years.

Roshdi, who has over three decades of professional experience, became CSM’s COO in November 2021 and has been with the agency since 2007.

He has previously held senior positions at Malaysia Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB), Daihatsu (Malaysia) and the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), with expertise in project management, corporate strategy, marketing and operations.

Roshdi holds a Master of Science in Information Management and an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies (Marketing) from Universiti Teknologi MARA. He has also completed a Leadership Programme at Harvard Business School and holds a Diploma in Agribusiness from Universiti Putra Malaysia.

In a tribute, CSM expressed its highest appreciation for the outgoing CEO, honouring Amirudin's leadership, vision, and contributions in transforming the agency and strengthening Malaysia’s resilience against complex digital threats.

His tenure saw several key achievements, including the enhancement of national cyber preparedness by expanding services such as MyCERT and Cyber999, the advancement of digital forensic capabilities through an internationally accredited laboratory, and vital contributions to the development of national cybersecurity policy and ecosystems, including the Cybersecurity Act 2024.

He also expanded global partnerships and advanced talent development through professional training and internationally recognised capacity-building initiatives.

The agency’s statement highlighted that Amirudin modernised its technical infrastructure, cementing CSM’s role as the leading cybersecurity reference centre in Malaysia and the region, and that he pioneered the SiberKASA initiative to strengthen national cybersecurity infrastructure.

In addition, he established Malaysia’s first cybersecurity gallery, the CyberSAFE® L.I.V.E. Gallery, recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records in 2021, and strengthened industry engagement via the CyberSecurity Malaysia Collaboration Programme, fostering close partnerships with industry players, technology providers and research institutions.
