SRI AMAN, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- The woman, found dead with her husband at a house in Jalan Brayun early this morning, was fondly remembered by colleagues for her cheerful personality and friendly demeanour.
A senior nurse at Sri Aman Hospital, Awi Mahiden, 53, said the victim was lively and approachable, often lifting the mood in the ward, and that her passing was deeply felt by co-workers.
“I was truly shocked, as just a day before the incident, we were still working and grabbing something to drink together. She was cheerful, gentle and always willing to help, and she always lifted the mood in the ward. Without her, it feels so quiet,” she told reporters when met at the Sri Aman Hospital 2 today.
Another colleague, Benedict Engkasan, 30, said the victim was actively involved in dancing and well known for her friendly nature and positive energy.
“We were in the same dance group. Every time there was an activity, she was always cheerful, smiling and greeting everyone. Even if she missed a step, she would still laugh and enjoy herself. This incident is truly shocking and completely unexpected,” he said.
Earlier, Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah was reported as saying a primary school headmaster and his wife were found dead with serious injuries to their bodies at a house in Taman Mutiara, Jalan Brayun, here, this morning.
He said police received information from members of the public at about 6.55 am regarding the discovery.
“Initial examinations confirmed that both victims, a 45-year-old man and his 44-year-old wife, had died at the scene. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
“The motive and cause of the incident are still under investigation, and efforts to gather evidence and record witness statements are actively ongoing,” he said in a statement today.
Members of the public with any information related to the incident are urged to contact either the investigating officer, ASP Kalang, at 019-331 7785, the Sri Aman District Police Headquarters control centre or the nearest police station.
