KUANTAN, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- Two police officers and five personnel who were arrested on suspicion of drug abuse in Mentakab, Temerloh, will be suspended pending the outcome of legal proceedings.

Pahang Police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said the men, in their 20s and 40s, were charged in court last week.

“They will be suspended from duty pending the outcome of their court case,” he told Bernama when contacted.

Yahaya urged all parties to stop speculating, as action has been taken against those believed to be involved.

It was earlier reported that two Inspectors and five personnel holding the ranks of Corporal and Lance Corporal were detained in a raid at 2.15 am on Jan 3.

Initial urine screening tests found one officer and five personnel to be positive for drugs.

The case is being investigated under Sections 12(3) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
