KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 17 (Bernama) -- Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin stressed that the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) remain backed by hundreds of thousands of personnel who uphold integrity, serve with sincerity and are ready to make the ultimate sacrifice for the country, despite recent controversies.
He said the contributions and sacrifices of the vast majority of armed forces personnel should not be viewed negatively due to the actions of a small number of individuals.
Mohamed Khaled also said that the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) remains committed to combating corruption and abuse of power within the armed forces.
“Whoever is found guilty will be brought to justice and punished accordingly. Those who tarnish the good name of the armed forces do not reflect the values, integrity or professionalism of the entire force,” he said.
“There are hundreds of thousands of armed forces personnel who uphold integrity, serve with sincerity and are willing to sacrifice their lives for the country. Therefore, I urge the public to be fair and reasonable towards the MAF and not allow the actions of a few individuals to tarnish the reputation of the entire institution - nila setitik, rosak susu sebelanga,” he said.
Mohamed Khaled, who is also an UMNO vice-president, said this in his closing speech at the 2025 UMNO General Assembly here today.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is currently investigating a corruption case involving army procurement that allegedly implicates several senior MAF officers.
Meanwhile, the MAF has been directed to conduct an internal investigation into allegations involving the entry of unauthorised individuals and the alleged involvement in immoral activities within military camps, which had gone viral on social media.
