KINABATANGAN, Jan 24 (Bernama) -- The total voter turnout for the Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election was recorded 55.06 per cent.
Election Commission (EC) chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun in a statement tonight said for the Lamag state seat, the voter turnout was recorded at 64.93 per cent.
“The EC would like to inform that P.187 Kinabatangan parliamentary seat by-election was won by Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar (Naim Moktar) from Barisan Nasional (BN) party with a total of 19,852 votes and a majority of 14,214 votes.
“Meanwhile, the N.58 Lamag state by-election was won by Mohd Ismail Ayob (Miha) from BN party with a total of 7,269 votes and a majority of 5,681 votes,” he said.
The Kinabatangan parliamentary and Lamag state by-elections were held following the death of the incumbent, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, 66, on Dec 5 last year.
