JASIN, Jan 29 (Bernama) -- The Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (JPPKK) demonstrated its strategic capability in strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) through the successful implementation of the Polytechnic and Community College (POLYCC) development projects worth nearly RM432 million last year.

Its deputy director-general (Planning) Ulaimi Yahya said the achievement reflected the continued commitment of JPPKK and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) to ensure that every development initiative is carefully planned, effectively implemented and closely monitored with full integrity, while delivering the best possible returns to the people and the country.

“This success is the result of the collective efforts of all POLYCC staff, the continuous support of the MOHE, and the strong cooperation of strategic implementing partners. The initiative not only strengthens the TVET learning ecosystem but also serves as a catalyst for the development of highly skilled human capital, which is a key national agenda,” he told reporters at the 2025 Polytechnic and Community College Development Awards Ceremony (APPOLYCC) here.

He stressed that amid an increasingly challenging TVET education landscape, POLYCC has demonstrated a more mature and strategic capability in managing institutional planning and development.

Throughout the implementation of the development projects, significant improvements were recorded in planning quality, efficiency of physical implementation, governance compliance, and the alignment of projects with the needs of local industries and communities.

Ulaimi said the approved development projects involved the department as the implementing agency, overseeing more than RM186 million in funding and encompassing 60 projects at 48 polytechnics as well as 12 projects at community colleges nationwide.

“The implementation performance translated into development expenditure of more than RM322 million, representing 98.38 per cent of the revised allocation as of mid-December 2025,” he said.

He also expressed appreciation to the Public Works Department (JKR) and the project implementation teams for their strategic collaboration, technical expertise and professionalism, which ensured that the projects were completed in accordance with the prescribed specifications, timelines and quality standards.

The ceremony also marked the continuation of JPPKK’s commitment to advancing the country’s TVET excellence, with development efforts focused on delivering direct benefits to students, lecturers and the industry community.
