PHNOM PENH, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni was unable to carry out official duties on Friday due to ill health and delegated the welcoming of Vietnamese leader To Lam to Hun Sen, the Royal Palace announced.
In a statement, the Palace said the King had assigned Hun Sen, who is serving as Acting Head of State, to receive the visiting To Lam, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
This official welcoming ceremony was held at the Royal Palace, as reported by the local news outlet Fresh News.
To Lam is leading a high-profile group of government leaders on a one-day state visit to Cambodia at the invitation of King Norodom Sihamoni.
The visit is anticipated to strengthen diplomatic ties between the neighbouring countries.
Former Prime Minister Hun Sen currently holds the positions of President of the Senate and President of the Cambodian People's Party.
