SHAH ALAM, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) has continued its annual tradition by sponsoring Hari Raya Aidilfitri essentials for 25 residents of the Pertubuhan Pengurusan Asrama Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Miskin Sekendi, reaffirming its commitment to social responsibility.

The programme was carried out through the PKNS Shopping Raya Ramadan Kasih initiative, which allowed residents aged between eight and 17 to choose their own festive necessities according to their preferences.

PKNS Corporate Services senior general manager Sapna Turmidi said RM10,000 was spent on the programme, with each participant receiving RM400 to purchase items such as festive clothing, additional outfits, shoes, songkok, headscarves and traditional Malay attire at PKNS Complex and SACC Mall.

She said the initiative would continue, with PKNS scheduled to present a RM100,000 contribution to the same home during a breaking-of-fast event on Feb 21 under the Ramadan Kasih PKNS initiative.

Ahead of Ramadan, Sapna said PKNS has also planned several other welfare initiatives, including the distribution of bubur lambuk, the delivery of essential goods to senior citizens, cash contributions to Asrama Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Pulau Indah and Ramadan iftar programmes.

She said such programmes are not only aimed at assisting those in need, but also at fostering values of care, solidarity and togetherness within the community.

“These initiatives help instil compassion and unity in society, in line with the spirit and blessings of the month of Ramadan,” she said.

Sapna added that the Ramadan Kasih PKNS initiative reflects the corporation’s ongoing role as a state government agency in fulfilling its social responsibility and contributing to community wellbeing, particularly in Selangor.

In a related development, she said the PKNS Ramadan bazaar this year will operate as usual, while construction and upgrading works around Aneka Walk are expected to be completed before the start of Ramadan.

“With the facilities that have been prepared, we expect higher visitor numbers at PKNS Complex and SACC Mall as the public looks for reasonably priced Aidilfitri necessities,” she said.

Sapna said Aneka Walk will also host various sales activities, including the distribution of bubur lambuk, while visitors breaking fast can purchase food at the bazaar and spend time at the venue.

“We are confident that the introduction of Aneka Walk as a new attraction will draw more visitors from around Shah Alam, and we invite the public to experience what PKNS Complex has to offer,” she said.
