PUTRAJAYA, Feb 27 (Bernama) -- The courageous actions of seven young men, dubbed the Tasik Biru Heroes, who rescued a mother and her two young children in a Kundang, Rawang accident, have been hailed as an inspiring example of bravery.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said their heroism is even more remarkable as the youths come from three different villages in the vicinity of the lake and did not know each other before the incident.
“When they saw what was happening, something stirred in their hearts to risk their lives to save the victims. It was an extraordinarily brave act and truly inspirational.
“I hope this inspires all Malaysians to continue helping and supporting one another,” he told reporters after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s breaking-of-fast event with media practitioners and influencers at Kompleks Seri Perdana tonight.
The seven youths’ swift response during the Kundang accident on Feb 23 also earned special recognition from the Prime Minister.
They are Mohd Shahrizal Jarami, 40; Mohamad Fahmi Ismail, 33; Hariz Ismat Ruzaiizan, 26; Mohamad Zulfadhli Mohd Nasir, 23; Muhammad Aiman Hakimi Mohd Rosnizam, 23; Muhammad Nor Haiqal Abd Karim, 23; and Adam Syah Reza Hendri, 19.
Meanwhile, Mohamad Zulfadhli said he and his six friends felt proud and honoured to be invited to the breaking-of-fast event with the Prime Minister.
He described stepping into the Prime Minister’s official residence for the first time as an unexpected blessing, especially when the Prime Minister personally thanked them.
“The seven of us did not know each other, but we live in the same area. We only got to know one another while trying to rescue the mother and her two children,” he said.
Affectionately known as “Kecil” among his friends, he said they intend to maintain their friendship.
“We will continue to stay friends. As our faith teaches, it is important to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood,” he added.
