KUANTAN, Feb 27 (Bernama) -- Police have completed the investigation paper regarding the case involving an Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) student suspected of insulting Islam.

Pahang Police Chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said that the investigation paper has been submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action.

“The suspect is still under remand, and the investigation paper has been sent to the Deputy Public Prosecutor; so, we are awaiting further instructions,” he said when met by reporters after the Pahang Contingent PDRM Breaking of Fast Ceremony at the Kuantan District Police Headquarters here today.

Meanwhile, he added that as of tonight, the police have received 28 reports nationwide regarding the case.

“I ask the public to wait for further action, and the police will take appropriate measures regarding this case,” he said, adding that the suspect provided good cooperation throughout the investigation process.

Two days ago, an UMPSA student was detained to assist in investigations for allegedly insulting Islam on social media.

Earlier, an image showing an adult male's foot stepping on the Quran and a screenshot of a post by an individual alleged to be the UMPSA student had gone viral on social media.
