KUALA LUMPUR, March 14 (Bernama) -- National squash player S. Sivasangari is now one step closer to clinching her first title in 13 months after storming into the final of the Australian Open 2026 in Brisbane.
The top-seeded Sivasangari needed 50 minutes to see off Belgian fourth seed Nele Gilis 11-8, 13-11, 11-4 in today’s semi-final at the South Bank Piazza.
The victory saw the world number six level her head-to-head record with Gilis at 4-4.
National number one Sivasangari will vie for the Professional Squash Association (PSA) gold-level tournament title against either second seed Tinne Gilis of Belgium or seventh seed Marina Stefanoni of the United States in tomorrow’s final.
Sivasangari last won a title in February 2025, emerging victorious at the Cincinnati Gaynor Cup after defeating Egypt’s Amanda Sobhy 11-7, 6-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-4.
