BONGAWAN, March 14 (Bernama) -- A total of 26 MADANI Cooperative and Entrepreneur Sales (JMKU) programmes were implemented across Sabah last year, recording total sales of RM1.24 million.
Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Datuk Mohamad Alamin said the consistent success of the sales programme has greatly benefited 31,115 residents in the state.
He said that for this year, the ministry, through the Malaysia Co-operative Societies Commission (SKM), remains committed to addressing the people’s cost of living by offering up to 30 per cent savings on the price of essential items, especially in preparation for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
“This programme is in line with the government’s ‘Rahmah’ approach in helping to reduce the burden of daily expenses, especially for the B40 group and the hardcore poor, in addition to acting as an intervention tool to ease cost pressures during festive seasons,” he said.
According to him, the initiative, which is a strategic component under the ‘Hebatkan Perniagaan Malaysia’ agenda, also aims to promote the concept of co-operation and strengthen the role of cooperatives as sales operators.
He said this after officiating at the launch of the area-level JMKU programme at the Bongawan Weekly Market grounds here today.
On the implementation schedule this year, Mohamad said the first two series had been successfully implemented in Kinabatangan and Kimanis, while the next series is scheduled to be held at the Membakut Weekly Market tomorrow (March 15).
