MELAKA, March 22 (Bernama) -- Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh has praised artistes for their significant role in shaping thought, uniting society and enriching the nation’s heritage.
He said the National Artiste Day celebration symbolises the highest appreciation for all arts practitioners, encompassing film, music, writing, theatre as well as everyone in the arts community who contributes to the development of culture and national identity.
“On behalf of the Melaka state government leadership, I wish a Happy National Artiste Day to all arts practitioners in Malaysia.
“Continue to create with dedication to brighten the lives of the people and elevate the arts to greater heights,” he said in a post on his Facebook page today.
In Malaysia, National Artiste Day is observed on March 22 each year, in conjunction with the birth anniversary of legendary artiste the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee.
