KULAI, March 31 (Bernama) -- Traffic flow on the North-South Expressway (NSE) heading north from Kulai to Sedenak has been reported to be congested for about eight kilometres following a crash involving a trailer and a tanker lorry at KM40.6 this afternoon.
PLUS Malaysia Berhad, in a Facebook post, said the incident forced the closure of all northbound lanes to allow for rescue operations, fire extinguishing efforts and the removal of the vehicles involved.
PLUS said traffic had been diverted out to the Kulai Toll Plaza since the early stage of the incident, resulting in severe congestion that reached up to 11 kilometres at the peak of rescue operations.
As of this afternoon, a contra lane has been activated from KM40.3 to KM40.65 southbound to help ease traffic flow, but congestion of between six and eight kilometres is still being reported.
Clean-up and removal works are still actively ongoing, with some lanes being reopened in stages.
Members of the public are advised to plan their journeys and use alternative routes, as well as to comply with instructions from personnel at the scene.
