BANGI, April 2 (Bernama) -- The Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) has introduced four key initiatives for 2026 to strengthen corporate compliance and boost the growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said the measures reflect the government’s efforts to ease compliance requirements while strengthening the business ecosystem, in line with the Companies (Amendment) Act 2024 and Limited Liability Partnerships (Amendment) Act 2024.

She said two initiatives will begin on April 16, followed by two more on June 1.

The first is the Compliance Clinic and Statutory Document Submission Recovery Campaign to help companies meet requirements under the Companies Act 2016, including clearing outstanding Annual Returns and Beneficial Statements through direct advisory support.

“Running until Sept 30, the campaign also provides a special window for submissions, with exemptions from prosecution and reduced compounds for selected offences,” she told a press conference after the closing of the National Young Entrepreneurs Programme 2026 at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) here today.

The second initiative continues the 1 OKU 1 Business Scheme (S101P), offering free business registration and renewal for persons with disabilities (PWDs) to promote inclusive entrepreneurship.

The third extends the Free Business Registration Scheme (SPPP) from one year to two years, enabling B40 groups and higher education students to register businesses at no cost.

As of Feb 28, SSM recorded 250,859 youths as company directors and 261,107 as shareholders, with 649,260 owning businesses and 40,840 registered as partners in limited liability partnerships.

“These figures show the strong potential of Malaysian youths in driving the economy,” she said.

The fourth initiative introduces the Free Business Registration Scheme for Senior Citizens (SPPWE), offering free registration for the first year in preparation for an ageing nation.

Fuziah urged entrepreneurs and the corporate community to take advantage of these initiatives to build a more competitive, sustainable and inclusive business environment.
