KUALA NERANG, April 4 (Bernama) -- Sixty students, who obtained excellent results in the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) in the Padang Terap district, will be rewarded with educational trips to Japan and Indonesia.
The reward, offered by the non-governmental organisation (NGO) Kedah Anak Muda MADANI, aims to appreciate the achievements of the students involved in the examination.
Its chairman, Datuk Zuraidi Rahim, said all the students involved were from two schools that were adopted by the NGO, as well as seven other schools in the district.
"For the excellent students from the adopted schools, I will take 20 individuals for an educational visit to Japan, while 40 excellent students from the other schools will be taken to Jakarta, Indonesia.
"Originally, I planned to take the excellent students from the adopted schools to London, but due to the conflict in West Asia, I have discussed with the Kedah State Education Department and the District Education Office to change the destination to Japan," he told reporters here today.
Zuraidi said that the educational visit to the two countries is expected to be held next month (May) before the students involved continue their studies at higher learning institutions.
He also said that the educational visit is not just for the students' enjoyment, but will also be filled with educational and scholarly content, including visits to higher learning institutions in both countries involved.
"In Indonesia, students will visit several universities recognised by the government, especially in the field of medicine, to inspire them.
"In Japan, students will be taken to visit cities such as Tokyo and Osaka to see for themselves the learning culture and progress in that country (Japan)," he said.
According to Zuraidi, his team hopes the initiative will inspire the students involved to continue excelling in their education to achieve their ambitions.
In addition, he said, students who excelled in the Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) examination in the Padang Terap district and obtained a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0 would be given a trip to Bali, Indonesia.
