13 New Telecommunications Towers Resolve Coverage Issues In Asahan

JASIN, April 4 (Bernama) -- Telecommunications coverage issues in rural areas such as the Asahan state constituency have been addressed with the construction of 13 new telecommunications towers over three years.

Asahan assemblyman Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan said resolving broadband access issues is a key component in realising Asahan’s vision as a Kampung Sejahtera.

“Reliable telecommunications infrastructure is essential, as community well-being cannot be achieved if the people are unable to utilise technology,” he told reporters here today.

He welcomed the state government’s initiative to develop Asahan as a Kampung Sejahtera, noting its diverse population comprising Malays, Chinese, Indians and the Orang Asli community.

Fairul Nizam said this after the launch of the Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat (WRUR) programme and the Melaka Sayang Rakyat Aidilfitri celebration for the Asahan constituency, officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh at Sekolah Kebangsaan Felda Bukit Senggeh.

He said a total of 115 programmes have been planned in conjunction with WRUR, which runs from yesterday until April 12, involving various government departments and agencies to engage the local community.

“For the first time, the programme also involves more than 500 Orang Asli through 10 special initiatives,” said Fairul Nizam, who is also chairman of the state Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Communication Committee.
