NEW DELHI, April 7 (Bernama) -- Canada supports Pakistan's mediation efforts to bring an end to the United States (US)-Israeli conflict with Iran.
Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand said she had a "productive call" with Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday.
Dar briefed her on progress in ceasefire negotiations, even as US President Donald Trump issued new threats on Monday to blow up every bridge and power plant in Iran.
"Canada supports these efforts and encourages continued dialogue, along with the protection of civilian life and infrastructure.
I thanked Pakistan for its role in advancing discussions at a critical time," Anand wrote in a post on the social media platform X.
Escalating military strikes between the US, Israel and Iran since Feb 28 have plunged the West Asia region into a broader conflict, disrupting global oil supply, aviation networks, and causing far-reaching economic consequences.
