KUANTAN, April 8 (Bernama) -- The National Entrepreneur and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Council (MPUPK) is taking a proactive approach by engaging directly with SMEs to gather feedback on challenges arising from the West Asia conflict.
Its special adviser, Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, said he met SME operators in the northern region, where various views and suggestions were shared.
“I met SME entrepreneurs to discuss and obtain feedback. Some suggestions were practical, while others require further study.
“The proposals will be brought to the higher level for consideration before any decision is made by the government,” he told reporters after the SPM 2025 Incentive Award Ceremony for Maahad Tahfiz Negeri Pahang (MTNP) and Maahad Tahfiz Turath Negeri Pahang (MTTNP) here today.
Wan Rosdy, who is also the Pahang Menteri Besar, advised SMEs to adopt cost-saving measures and reduce operating expenses, including considering home-based business operations to ease financial pressure.
“While not all businesses are suitable to operate from home, this approach can help some manage costs more effectively,” he said.
On a proposal by the Pahang Youth Council to restructure TikTok Shop charges to ease the burden on SMEs facing rising costs, he said it was a reasonable suggestion that should be examined.
Earlier, Pahang Youth Council president Saharuddin Ahmad said platform fees, estimated at between 20 and 25 per cent, are putting pressure on profit margins.
Commenting on today’s event, Wan Rosdy said efforts would be made to improve facilities for students to ensure Pahang continues to maintain strong SPM results each year.
At the ceremony, 66 students from MTNP and MTTNP who achieved excellent SPM results were honoured, each receiving RM1,000 from the state government and RM500 from Yayasan Pahang.
