KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 (Bernama) -- The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has lauded the Ministry of Education's (MOE) assurance that all Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2025 candidates who score 10As and above will be offered places in the matriculation programme for the 2026/2027 session.
Its president, Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan, described the move as a positive shift towards equal opportunities for all Malaysians.
He said the ministry’s announcement that all 6,717 high-achieving candidates would receive automatic offers, regardless of race or background, was a commendable and progressive step towards fairness in education.
“This is a principle that PPP has consistently championed, that access to education must be based on merit and free from racial or religious considerations," he said in a statement today.
Yesterday, MOE said it would offer places in the 2026/2027 Matriculation Programme session to all 6,717 candidates who obtained 10As and above in the 2025 SPM examination.
The ministry also clarified that the 90 per cent Bumiputera admission quota for the programme remains unaffected.
