KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 (Bernama) -- Indian production house KVN Productions has warned the public against engaging with pirated content following the circulation of leaked scenes and clips from its film Jana Nayagan, widely believed to be the final film of renowned Indian actor Vijay as he now focuses on his political career.
In a public notice issued via its social media platforms, the production house said it had detected unauthorised access, copying and distribution of portions of the film, describing it as a serious threat of digital piracy.
“We are the producers and exclusive copyright owners of Jana Nayagan. Certain scenes and clips, and in some cases most of the film, have been illegally accessed, copied and circulated by unidentified persons,” it said.
KVN Productions stressed that downloading, viewing, storing, forwarding, sharing or uploading such leaked content across platforms including WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, websites and torrents constitutes a criminal offence and a violation of copyright laws.
“Every digital action is traceable, and we have already initiated necessary investigations, including forensic investigations, and lodged complaints against the persons involved. We are also actively identifying others in the chain of circulation,” it said.
The company warned that strict civil and criminal proceedings would be pursued against every offender without exception.
It also advised the public not to engage with any leaked material and to delete such content immediately upon receipt.
“Any person found involved shall face immediate legal action at their own risk. If you receive such content, do not open, store or forward it. Delete it immediately,” it said.
Yesterday, Malaysian distributor of the film Malik Streams Corporation called on the public to reject piracy following the reported leak of scenes from Jana Nayagan.
Vijay is set to contest in the upcoming Tamil Nadu State Assembly election through his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
