Kelantan Police Dispose Of Four Fish Bombs Found Near Border

KOTA BHARU, April 11 (Bernama) -- Four objects suspected to be fish bombs found near the border area at the Nusi illegal jetty in Tanah Merah were safely disposed of by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Bomb Disposal Unit.

General Operations Force (GOF) Southeast Brigade commander SAC Ahmad Radzi Hussain said the discovery followed a tip-off from the public at about 2.30 pm yesterday.

He said a team from the 9th Battalion GOF, together with other security elements, was deployed to the location before discovering four suspicious objects believed to be fish bombs at the base of an oil palm tree.

“The location is about 15 metres from the Malaysia-Thailand border line,” he said in a statement today.

He said the Bomb Disposal Unit from the Kelantan Police Contingent headquarters carried out further inspections and confirmed that all the objects were improvised explosive devices used for fish bombing activities.

“All the explosive devices were safely disposed of at the scene,” he said, adding that the motive behind the incident remains under investigation.
