Family Joy As Four Siblings Selected For Haj Pilgrimage

SHAH ALAM, April 12 (Bernama) -- Four siblings selected to perform the Hajj pilgrimage this year described the opportunity as a wonderful blessing, as their long-cherished dream finally came true after years of waiting for their turn.

The eldest brother, Abdul Aziz Hafiz Mohd Fadzil, 31, said the moment became even more meaningful when his wife, Nur Shazwani Mohamad Radzi, 31, was also chosen as a guest of Allah, allowing the couple to fulfil the fifth pillar of Islam alongside his three siblings.

The private sector employee said he and his three siblings, Nur Atiqah, 30; Nur Hafifah, 29; and Abdur Rahman, 27, did not expect to be selected this early, as their turn was only due in about two years.

“It feels like such a huge rezeki to be able to go there together,” he told reporters after the opening ceremony of the opening ceremony of the Selangor State-Level Premier Haj Course for the 2026 pilgrimage season held here today.

Abdul Aziz said their wish to go to the Holy Land was strongly influenced by their parents, Mohd Fadzil Rahmat, 58, and Mashitah Muhammad Kamaruddin, 67, who undertook the haj in 1997.

“Alhamdulillah, my parents had performed the Hajj earlier fulfil the same dream at a young age.

“We are also very grateful because they registered us with Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) in 2009. When we were young, any duit raya we got would be saved and deposited into the account, along with our monthly savings,” he said.

Abdul Aziz added that having his two younger siblings, Nur Hafifah and Abdur Rahman, perform Umrah in November last year gave him a slight advantage in preparing for Hajj.

“I have never set foot in Makkah myself, so insya-Allah they will help us a lot there. I feel happy but also nervous, but we hope everything will be made easier,” he said, adding that they will leave for the Holy Land on April 23.

The four siblings will be among more than 8,000 pilgrims from Selangor this year performing the fifth pillar of Islam in stages from April 18 to May 20, with return flights from the Holy Land scheduled between June 4 and June 30.
