NADI Centres In Terengganu To Be Strengthened To Benefit All Communities - Fahmi

KUALA NERUS, April 13 (Bernama) -- All National Information Dissemination (NADI) centres in Terengganu will be further strengthened to ensure their benefits reach all communities, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said.

He said the effort is being reinforced through the appointment of eight NADI advisory panel chairmen in the state, who received their letters of appointment today.

Fahmi noted that Terengganu currently has 72 NADI centres operating across all parliamentary and state constituencies, serving as hubs for information dissemination and community digital empowerment.

“The appointment of these advisory panels follows similar implementations in other states.

“To date, 106 advisory panel chairmen have been appointed in states including Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Sabah and now Terengganu,” he said at the presentation ceremony of the appointment letters here.

Fahmi also expressed hope that the appointments would ensure all 72 centres are fully utilised not only by nearby communities but also extended to underserved areas.

“Typically, communities within a two to three kilometre radius benefit the most, but we want NADI services to reach less-served areas. This is crucial in raising public awareness, particularly on the dangers of online scams through safe internet campaigns,” he said.

Fahmi also advised parents to monitor internet usage among children under 16 to protect them from inappropriate content.

He further urged NADI management to work closely with the Information Department in delivering accurate and easy-to-understand information to the public.

“Information must be conveyed in a way that is simple and accessible to all at any time,” he said.
