KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 (Bernama) -- Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) has announced the appointment of Biruntha Mooruthi as its new group chief executive officer, succeeding Edward Ling, effective today.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan presented her letter of appointment at his office in Putrajaya.

Ramanan said Biruntha’s leadership track record in driving national initiatives, advancing innovation agendas and bridging the gap between research and market needs is highly valuable in an increasingly challenging economic landscape.

He said her appointment marks an important step in driving a more dynamic, focused and industry-aligned national talent development strategy.

“I am confident that Biruntha, with over 20 years of leadership experience across government, academia and industry, will steer TalentCorp towards greater achievements and high-impact outcomes.

“Her contributions in mentoring thousands of entrepreneurs and accelerating technology commercialisation also demonstrate her commitment to developing the nation’s talent and innovation ecosystem,” he said in a Facebook post.

He said he is confident TalentCorp will continue to play a strategic role as a key think tank in enhancing workforce readiness, expanding quality job opportunities, and ensuring national talent policies contribute to sustainable economic growth under Biruntha’s leadership.

Ramanan also expressed appreciation to Ling for his service and contributions throughout his tenure at TalentCorp.

Meanwhile, TalentCorp, in a statement today, said Biruntha has held several senior leadership roles, including at PlaTCOM Ventures under the Malaysian Innovation Agency, and as a fellow at Universiti Tenaga Nasional.

“These experiences have strengthened her expertise in leading large-scale programmes, particularly in technology commercialisation, industry-academia collaboration and the implementation of innovation across the energy, deep technology and sustainability sectors.

“Among her notable achievements are leading national-level innovation funding programmes, accelerating technology commercialisation efforts, and playing a key role in building strategic partnerships with industry players to bridge the gap between research and market adoption,” it said.

In addition, she has mentored and trained more than 5,000 entrepreneurs, innovators and businesses nationwide.

Biruntha holds a Master of Business Administration from Victoria University and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computer Science from Coventry University.
