PUTRAJAYA, April 15 (Bernama) -- The Immigration Department has confirmed that a group of foreign nationals allegedly seen in Changlun and Jitra, Kedah, are holders of valid Social Visit Passes (PLS) and had undergone proper immigration clearance at the country’s entry points.

Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the department conducted checks following concerns raised by local residents after the issue went viral on social media recently.

“In this regard, further monitoring will be intensified and appropriate action will be taken should there be any breach of immigration regulations,” he said in a statement today.

He said the department continues to carry out ongoing monitoring and enforcement nationwide to ensure compliance with immigration laws is maintained at all times.

Zakaria said that all entries of foreign nationals into Malaysia are subject to established inspection procedures and controls at all entry points, and advised the public to obtain information from official sources and to channel any relevant information to the authorities to enable accurate and effective action to be taken.

Earlier, several images circulated on Facebook alleging that foreign nationals were using bus stations in Changlun and Jitra as transit points after clearing immigration checks at entry points before boarding public transport to Kuala Lumpur.
