Four Cases Of Fallen Trees Within An Hour In Hilir Perak

IPOH, April 25 (Bernama) -- Heavy rain and strong winds this afternoon caused four cases of fallen trees in several areas around the Hilir Perak district.

The Hilir Perak Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) said in a press release that the incident began around 6 pm, involving locations in Parit 7A, Parit 7B and Parit 9A Sungai Manik.

"The first case involved a fallen tree blocking the road at Parit 7A, followed by a second case at Parit

"The PKOD then received two more reports at 6.27 pm and 6.45 pm around Parit 7A and Parit 7B, bringing the total to at least four cases of fallen trees recorded within less than an hour," according to the statement.

The Hilir Perak PKOD said it has deployed seven members along with two operational machines to carry out monitoring and cleaning work at the affected locations.

"The report will be updated from time to time and Hilir Perak APM Hilir personnel are still actively conducting operations to resolve all cases received through MERS (Malaysian Emergency Response Service) and the public.

"However, all these incidents did not involve any loss of life and only caused minor damage to residences so far," said the statement.

Earlier, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds affecting 10 states until 9 tonight.

MetMalaysia said that the weather conditions are expected to affect the entire states of Perlis, Kedah and Penang, while in Perak, the affected areas are Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim.
