Woman Driver Killed, Two Injured In Car-Lorry Collision

MIRI, May 3 (Bernama) -- A woman driver was killed while two pasengers were injured when their car was involved in a collision with a lorry at the junction of Long Laput, about six kilometres from Jalan Long Lama, Baram, Marudi today.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said that they received a call about the crash at 11.39 am and a team from the Marudi Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the location.

The woman driver, 41, was pinned in the seat of her Proton Persona, while a girl, 19, and boy, four, suffered injuries and were sent to a nearby hospital by ambulance before the firefighters arrived.

“The victim was pronounced dead by medical officers and her body was extricated from the car with special equipment by the firefighters and handed to the police for further action,” the department said in a statement today.

The male lorry driver, 46, was unhurt, the department added.
