N. Sembilan JPJ Issues 46,384 Notices In Special Op

SEREMBAN, May 9 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan Road Transport Department (JPJ) issued a total of 46,384 notices for various road traffic offences after inspecting 137,917 vehicles under the special operation dubbed Ops Khas Pengarah from January to April 30 this year.

State JPJ director Jasyindar Singh Sihdu said that out of the total number of vehicles inspected, action was taken against 18,874 vehicles for various offences under the Road Transport Act 1987.

He said that during the operation, 40,501 motorcycles were inspected, of which 5,273 were penalised.

“Throughout the period, offences involving vehicle licensing recorded the highest number of violations at 15,881, followed by technical offences (13,577) and driver licensing offences (8,717).

“During the operation, a total of 479 vehicles were also seized, comprising 177 motorcycles, 146 cars and 156 other vehicles,” he told a press conference at the Negeri Sembilan JPJ office here.

Meanwhile, Jasyindar Singh said the department also seized 188 luxury vehicles from last year until April this year.

Among the luxury vehicles seized were BMW (47), Mercedes-Benz (45), Toyota Alphard/Vellfire (24) and Porsche (10).

“Those detained included individuals with the title Datuk, entrepreneurs and professionals, involving offences related to failure to pay road tax,” he said.
