Perak Floods Fully Recover, Last PPS Closes

IPOH, May 12 (Bernama) -- The flood situation in Perak has fully recovered and the last temporary evacuation centre (PPS) at Sekolah Kebangsaan Matang Gelugor in the Larut, Matang and Selama (LMS) district was officially closed this afternoon.

LMS District Disaster Management Committee chairman Mohd Nasrul Menhat said the PPS was closed at 2 pm after the floods completely receded, and all the victims had returned to their respective homes.

"The cooperation of all departments and agencies involved in the operation of the PPS is greatly appreciated," he said in a statement today.

Yesterday, the Disaster Management Committee Secretariat said in a statement that 43 flood victims from 11 families were placed in two evacuation centres in the LMS and Batang Padang districts.

Of that number, 37 individuals from nine families were placed in the PPS at SK Matang Gelugur, LMS, while six other individuals from two families were relocated to the PPS at the Kampung Klah Baru multipurpose hall in Batang Padang.
