Maxis Expands Home Solar Options With New Outright Purchase Plan

KUALA LUMPUR, May 12 (Bernama) -- Maxis has expanded its Maxis Home Solar offerings with the introduction of an Outright Purchase option, giving Malaysian households another way to adopt renewable energy while managing electricity costs.

The new option complements the subscription plan launched in 2025 and is aimed at homeowners seeking full ownership of their solar systems to maximise long-term returns.

In a statement, Maxis said customers who opt for the Outright Purchase plan can reduce their monthly electricity bills by up to 80 per cent and potentially recover their initial investment within three to five years.

To facilitate the transition, the company is offering zero per cent interest instalment plans of up to 36 months through selected partner banks.

Customers who sign up for the Outright Purchase option by May 31 will receive up to five years of complimentary maintenance, insurance and solar performance monitoring, including protection against accidental damage to solar photovoltaic (PV) components such as panels and inverters.

The expanded offering is in line with the government's Solar Accelerated Transition Action Programme (Solar ATAP), which encourages households to improve energy self-sufficiency and mitigate electricity price volatility.

Maxis Green Solutions Sdn Bhd director Patrick Er said the offering was designed to provide customers with long-term assurance.
