KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 (Bernama) -- The Bumiputera empowerment agenda cannot be driven in isolation, but instead requires comprehensive cooperation involving the government, industry, educational institutions, government-linked companies (GLCs), the private sector and the community, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said all parties must move in tandem to ensure that every plan formulated truly benefited and created more opportunities for future generations.

Ahmad Zahid said the matter was discussed during a meeting he chaired with cluster chairmen of the Bumiputera Economic Congress in Putrajaya to review the progress and direction of several strategic agendas under the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (PuTERA35).

“Various matters were discussed involving aspects of education, talent development, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), economy, entrepreneurship, emerging technologies, community development and overall public well-being.

“God willing, all findings and proposals discussed will continue to be refined to ensure that the agenda being pursued remains relevant, sustainable and capable of strengthening the future of the Bumiputera community and the nation,” he said in a Facebook post today.

PuTERA35, launched on Aug 19, 2024, is the government’s comprehensive plan to empower the Bumiputera economy through 132 initiatives, three thrusts and 12 drivers.

The 10-year strategic plan spanning 2024 to 2035 aims to increase Bumiputera participation, ownership and control to a higher level in line with the aspirations of the MADANI Economy initiative.
