Bernama Journalist Sole Malaysian Representative In CIPCC 2026 Programme

BEIJING, May 16 (Bernama) -- Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) journalist Siti Zanariah Nor Zin has been selected as Malaysia’s sole media representative for the China International Press Communication Centre (CIPCC) 2026 programme.

The programme, which began on Monday and concludes on Aug 11, is being held at the Renmin University of China (RUC), one of the country’s leading institutions for journalism and communication studies.

Unlike previous editions, participants are being accommodated on the RUC campus, allowing them to experience life as international students throughout the programme.

Organised by the China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA) under the management of the CIPCC, the initiative brings together 85 media practitioners from various countries including Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, the Maldives, Laos, Pakistan, India, Sudan, Lebanon, Yemen, Turkiye, Zimbabwe, Argentina, Brazil, Serbia and Russia.

CIPCC director Yu Lei said participants would undergo activities, including journalism training, diplomatic programmes, cultural immersion, official visits within and outside Beijing, as well as practical training attachments at major Chinese media organisations.

“Media practitioners will also have the opportunity to deepen cross-cultural understanding through coverage related to community life, technological advancements, smart city development and China’s traditional cultural heritage,” he said during the programme’s orientation session on Friday.

Yu said the programme also aims to strengthen international media cooperation while enabling participants to gain a better understanding of China’s current developments, culture and progress.

Meanwhile, during the orientation session held at the RUC School of Journalism and Communication, Siti Zanariah had the opportunity to engage with media practitioners from various countries representing broadcasting organisations, newspapers, digital media platforms and news agencies.

Participants were also briefed on the history and achievements of RUC since its founding in 1950, particularly its excellence in the fields of journalism and law.
