MEXICO CITY, May 18 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- At least 10 people were killed early on Sunday in an attack by unidentified armed individuals in Tehuitzingo, a municipality in the central Mexican state of Puebla, local authorities said, reported Xinhua.

The victims of the attack, which took place in an Indigenous community, were six men, three women and a minor, according to the state Public Security Ministry.

Security has been reinforced in the area with support from military personnel, State Public Security Secretary Francisco Sanchez said.

Puebla prosecutor Idamis Pastor Betancourt said one line of investigation points to a possible family matter, noting that preliminary findings showed six of the victims belonged to the same family and the other four were workers.

Prosecutors recovered the bodies and gathered evidence as part of the investigation.

Security forces have launched an operation to locate and arrest those responsible, while investigators continue working to determine the motive behind the attack.
