KUALA LUMPUR, June 15 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil today congratulated Tan Sri Nallini Pathmanathan on her appointment as chairman of the Malaysian Media Council (MMC).
In a Facebook post, Fahmi expressed hope that the former Federal Court judge would continue to champion responsible media freedom and strengthen journalistic ethics in the country.
“Congratulations to Tan Sri Nallini Pathmanathan on her appointment as chairman of the Malaysian Media Council.
“May the council continue to uphold responsible media freedom, strengthen journalistic ethics and play an important role in advancing the voice of the media industry so that it remains sustainable and trusted. Wishing you all the best in your service, Tan Sri,” he said.
Nallini was appointed chairman of the MMC, the media industry's self-regulatory body established under the Malaysian Media Council Act 2025.
Earlier today, the council announced in a statement that members of its board had unanimously endorsed Nallini's appointment at a meeting held on May 26.
MMC described the appointment as a significant milestone in strengthening its role as an independent, credible, and public-interest-driven self-regulatory body for the media industry.
