KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 (Bernama) -- Muslims around Bukit Bintang will be able to perform their Friday prayers at the Bukit Bintang Outreach Oasis starting tomorrow, following a special approval granted for this purpose.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Dr. Zulkifli Hassan, shared in a Facebook post that this facility is being provided temporarily until a permanent Friday surau (prayer hall) at the location is fully constructed.
“History will be made in Bukit Bintang tomorrow! By the grace of Allah and through a special approval, Friday prayers can now be performed at the Bukit Bintang Outreach Oasis temporarily until the permanent Friday surau is completed.
“After this, there’s no need to rush, race against time, or squeeze through crowds to travel far just to fulfill this obligation, Insya-Allah,” he said.
He also invited Muslims, especially the Bukit Bintang community, to attend and enliven the Friday prayers at the location as a sign of support for Islamic eminence.
“Let’s fill the rows as a sign of solidarity from the ummah for the eminence of Islam. Friday is a day full of blessings! Let’s rest our minds, cleanse our souls, and enliven the Friday prayers at the Bukit Bintang Outreach Oasis tomorrow!” he added.
The government was previously reported to be working on establishing a comfortable Friday surau in Bukit Bintang to facilitate Muslims in performing their acts of worship in the popular tourist hotspot.
