SHAH ALAM, June 22 (Bernama) -- The Assessment Tax Reduction Guidelines under the Eco-Friendly Home Incentive, announced in the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package Phase 2, will take effect from July 1, said State Tourism and Local Government Committee chairman Ng Suee Lim.

He said under the initiative, homeowners who instal solar systems, use energy-efficient appliances and rainwater harvesting systems from Jan 1, 2026, may be considered for assessment tax reductions, subject to conditions to be set.

Ng said electric vehicle (EV) ownership, recycling practices and domestic waste reduction are also included under the initiative and may be eligible for assessment tax reductions from the same date.

“This is a new initiative by the state government to encourage Selangor residents to adopt green energy, such as installing solar panels at home, so that they can reduce electricity consumption,” he said when winding-up of the debate on the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly here today.

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, when tabling the package on June 19, said the state government would provide a 100 per cent assessment tax rebate to Selangor residents who instal green technology in their homes this year.

He said the rebate initiative was introduced by the state government to encourage more residents in the state to adopt clean and sustainable energy.

On the issue of disposing of green technology waste, including solar panels and EVs, Ng said the state government would explore the best methods to ensure sustainable implementation without causing environmental harm.
